Detroit singer/songwriter, musician and recording artist David Shelby
announces his signing with Artist Events Nashville (AEN) for booking
representation.
A performer “wired for sound” whose talents are branded by his roots,
Shelby is no stranger to large audiences and center stage. An early
prodigy, David was contracted to form an entire horn section for The
Wolfman Jack Fabulous 50s Tour at the young age of 17. His talents led
him to join Motown and heritage acts who tapped Shelby to play trumpet
as a full-time member, touring internationally with award-winning
recording artists such as The Glenn Miller Orchestra, The Turtles,
Little Anthony & The Imperials, Stevie Wonder, Davy Jones (The
Monkees), opening for Styx and Foreigner, and playing before sold-out
crowds at some of the world’s largest venues such as DTE Energy Concert
Venue and First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre (formerly The World Music
Theater) in Chicago. Most recently, the front man of his own rock
infused country band, Shelby opened for Hank Williams, Jr. at the Fox
Theatre in Detroit. His stage experience and theatrical training have
offered him invaluable insight, perspective and the skillful ability to
be a proficient music translator.
“Artist Events Nashville has an admirable ‘roll-up your sleeves’ work
ethic to help independent artists make his or her mark as live
performers,” said Shelby. “I’m ready to go to work and it’s nice to know
I have a group of believers behind me to put me to work!”
Shelby made his entry into the country music scene as official with
his debut single release, “Kick A Little Dirt Around," (ON RADIO
NOW!--CDX Vol. 568/Track No.10); the tune, met with overwhelming welcome
by radio and its listeners, is making an impression on folks across the
country and the pond. The single is the lead from his amply titled,
seven-song CD, RUST BELT COWBOY, now available via all major Internet
outlets.
Joining the inner circles of the Nashville community, David has
worked alongside famed-industry record producers Ed Seay (Martina
McBride/Willie Nelson/Blake Shelton), Russ Zavitson/Zavitson Music Group
(Billy Ray Cyrus) and Mark Burch (Billy Currington). He has recently
aligned with veteran Sony Music Executive Ed Gertler who is spearheading
the David Shelby promotions and marketing team. The single radio
promotion (“Kick A Little Dirt Around”) is supported by some of the
industry’s most successful (Jan Woods, Jack Pride and Jerry Duncan
Promotions); Club Connection (under the Marco Promotions umbrella)
headed up the corresponding “Kick A Little Dirt Around" club promotion
campaign.
“David brings a Detroit rock n’roll grit to the country music
format--not customarily seen on country music stages. The addition of
the trumpet to his show offers a dramatic sound to his already creative
performance and lends itself well to being a must-see ‘attraction’ to
draw audiences of all ages and in boosting ticket sales,” said AEN
President, Gary Kirves. “In both performance and sound, David Shelby is
refreshing and energetic, encompassing both Detroit culture and the
signature musicianship of Nashville. Tim Gray’s insight in recognizing
David’s team of professionals surrounding him to position him as a
career artist is one of the very reasons David came up on AEN’s radar;
it was a done deal for us after we experienced his talent. We are very
proud to represent such a multi-talented artist.” [Tim Gray is
responsible agent (RA).]
Shelby joins the Artist Events Nashville roster boasting acts such as
Atlanta Rhythm Section, David Ball, George Ducas, Exile, Lucas Hoge,
Brandon Jenkins, Jason Link, Rachele Lynae, McKenzies Mill, Juice
Newton, Matt Stillwell, The Devonshires and Waymore’s Outlaws.
Shelby is currently touring the Northeast promoting his CD, RUST BELT COWBOY.
